What should I Wear? We're a "come as you are" church. Come casual. Come dressed in your Sunday best. Our people do both all the time, and anywhere in between! (our pastor included) All we ask is that you wear clothes :)
Are they going to single me out as a first time guest?Nope. Our regulars may greet you with a warm handshake and help you find where you're going, though.
What is a normal weekly service like?Though that's hard to answer quickly, you can watch and observe one of our services online here. We're a multi-generational congregation, and our worship styles, teaching, and preaching reflect that. A little of the old, a little of the new.
What options are there for families/parents with children? We invite all generations to worship with us in our weekly worship service, and if desired - there is childcare for little ones (Infant to Preschool) and Kids' Church right after our combined praise and worship time, most weeks led by our Children's Director Crystal O'Brien. The last Sunday of every month is Family Sunday, where we celebrate together in a fully-participatory service in the sanctuary.
I've Never Been to a Nazarene church before. Do you have any unique rituals that are part of your gatherings? The Church of the Nazarene was an offshoot of the Methodist church, which gained momentum in the late 1800's and was established officially in 1907, mainly out of a burden to reach the poor and the broken with the message of the Gospel and to more firmly embrace a desire for Christlike holiness. We believe that the Holy Spirit urges us to deepen our faith, and as we walk with Christ, so we become more like Him. We urge those who are part of our body to allow Christ to transform them from lives of slavery to sin, to lives that are set free from its bondage, not only as an act of forgiveness, but as a continued process of being made like Him.
There aren't any specific practices during worship gatherings that are all that unusual compared to other congregations. We do believe there are times that prayer can lead us to our knees at an altar, we believe in the power of gathering together and laying hands on a member who needs a healing touch from God, and we believe in a faith that is expressed in grace, love, and humility.
